B+S receives the Lean and Green Award

Borgholzhausen, March 20, 2020 – Logistics service provider B+S has been awarded the Lean and Green Award for its action plan to reduce CO2 emissions. With the award, the non-profit organization Lean and Green and the umbrella organization GS1 Germany, in cooperation with the certification body TÜV NORD CERT, certify logistics companies that act in an environmentally responsible manner in their specific storage and logistics processes.

Lean and Green aims to reduce CO2 by 20 percent in five years. B+S also joined this program two years ago. In 2018, the implementation of self-imposed measures to reduce emissions began. These measures include numerous new logistics buildings with the highest building standards in terms of sustainability, the successive modernization of the vehicle fleet and the use of green electricity as well as the reduction of transport distances through effective transport management. The certification company TÜV NORD CERT has now certified the feasibility and effectiveness of this action plan.

Measurable successes already
Two years after the measures began to be implemented, the logistics service provider from Borgholzhausen in East Westphalia recorded a CO2 reduction of over 18 percent. After just three years, i.e. in 2021, B+S will break the 20 percent mark and achieve the reduction target of over 26 percent. “The results so far and the Lean and Green Award confirm our commitment to sustainable logistics in warehousing and transport. We will continue with the measures and expand them further so that we can look back on an emissions decline of almost 40 percent in the target year 2023, ”explains Stefan Brinkmann, managing partner of B+S and thus gives insights into the ambitious goals of his company.
