B+S continues to grow due to high demand in logistics – 40 new jobs in the Fuggerstrasse logistics park
Borgholzhausen, April 8, 2019 – B+S GmbH Logistics and services are also growing in Bielefeld: Thanks to increasing demand from customers in the food and pharmaceutical industries and online trade, the logistics service provider is significantly expanding its existing space in the Fuggerstrasse logistics park. The construction of a 20,000 square meter logistics hall gives the Bielefeld economic region a boost. The ultra-modern and energy-efficient facility in the Sennestadt district will in future be one of the largest of the company’s twelve locations in Germany. As of June 2019, it will offer a total of 200 employees a secure job.
B+S has a special relationship with Bielefeld. Because the city between Weser and Ems is one of four locations in East Westphalia-Lippe in addition to the headquarters in nearby Borgholzhausen and branches in Herford and Augustdorf. The medium-sized logistics service provider feels comfortable in the region and will in future employ around 300 employees on a total of 100,000 square meters of logistics space in East Westphalia.
Now the existing 28,000 square meter logistics area in the Fuggerstrasse logistics park is being significantly expanded. On behalf of B+S, the real estate company Frasers Property Europe is building a 20,000 square meter hall on the neighboring property at Fuggerstrasse 13. The facilities also include office space and parking for employees. In addition, another 10,000 square meters of hall space can be added at short notice when new customers knock on the door of B+S.
“We are currently growing very strongly in the area of logistics services. This includes a high proportion of outsourcing projects. But there is also increasing demand for our logistics services for online trading, ”says B+S Managing Director Stefan Brinkmann about the good development. “In this segment, we offer our customers a sophisticated all-round service,” explains the logistics specialist. But there are also signs of growth in other business areas: Whether packaged food, pharmaceutical products or pet food – in recent months, well-known companies have decided to work with B+S, including companies such as Schüco, a manufacturer of high-quality window and door and facade systems, the food manufacturer RUF or the online retailer Zoo 24.
International standards for food logistics
The handling of food during transport and storage is strictly regulated. The new system is therefore certified according to the so-called “International Featured Standard”. The globally recognized set of rules requires compliance with high standards from everyone involved in the supply chain. This includes, among other things, the proper storage of food in defined temperature zones. “Our new hall has three storage zones that we can temper from minus 22 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius,” explains Stefan Brinkmann.
To a large extent, B+S takes care of the entire logistics of packaged food – from collection from the manufacturer to storage, packaging and order picking through to transport to the destination. “And it can be anywhere in the world,” reveals Stefan Brinkmann. Therefore, the strategically favorable location with the direct connection to the A2 and A33 motorways is a real plus point of the location.
40 new jobs are created – more employees wanted
With regard to energy efficiency, insulation and heating, the new logistics system is state of the art. All components are recyclable. Stefan Brinkmann: “Thanks to low consumption of fossil fuels and complete LED lighting, the hall protects the environment and resources.”
But that is not the only reason why the property increases the attractiveness of the fabric area as a whole. Potential employees also have reason to be happy: With the commissioning in June, 40 new jobs will be created in the areas of storage and dispatching. In the future, B+S will employ a total of 200 people at its Bielefeld location – and maybe soon more. Stefan Brinkmann: “We are always looking for committed colleagues.”
