B+S is also growing in Bielefeld
Borgholzhausen, April 11, 2019 – B+S GmbH Logistik und Dienstleistungen is expanding its location in Bielefeld. Thanks to increasing demand from customers in the food and pharmaceutical industries and online retail, a state-of-the-art logistics facility is being built in the Fuggerstrasse logistics park. In future, the new building will be one of the largest of the medium-sized logistics service provider’s twelve locations across Germany.
On behalf of B+S, the real estate company Fasers Property Europe is building a new, 20,000 square meter logistics hall. This is on the same campus as the existing logistics area of 28,000 square meters in the Sennestadt district. “Thanks to our growth, the new building became necessary in almost all business areas,” says B+S Managing Director Stefan Brinkmann. In Fuggerstrasse, the company takes on almost all logistics services for well-known customers such as Schüco, RUF or the online retailer “Zoo24”, from contract logistics to value added services to e-commerce fulfillment. The first 10,000 square meters of the new building will be occupied at the end of May, with another 10,000 square meters going into operation in July. Another hall of the same size can be added at short notice.
In addition to the logistics area, there are 1,000 square meters of office space and 2,500 square meters of mezzanine. The open mezzanine was specially designed for a width of 18 meters in order to be able to use it better for the installation of shelving and picking. “Logistics space is a scarce commodity in the Bielefeld region. We are all the more pleased to be able to provide the market with additional capacities in the future, ”said the co-founder and managing partner of the medium-sized company. The logistics system also scores with a strategically favorable location due to the direct connection to the A2 and A33.
Halle meets the highest standards for food logistics
Like all B+S locations, the facility is certified according to the International Featured Standard (IFS). The Bielefeld site has three different temperature zones that are tempered to minus 22 degrees Celsius (TK), 0 to 4 degrees Celsius (freshness) and 18 degrees Celsius (ambient).
The new building is also state of the art in terms of energy efficiency, insulation and heating. Thanks to low consumption of fossil fuels and complete LED lighting, the hall protects the environment. With the commissioning in June, 40 new jobs will be created in the areas of storage and dispatching. In the future, B+S will employ 200 people at its Bielefeld location. In the East Westphalia region, a good 300 employees now work on around 100,000 square meters of logistics space.
B+S employs 650 people across Germany and has 300,000 square meters of logistics space.
