Borgholzhausen, February 28, 2021 \u2013 New year, new luck? We made good use of the start of the year 2021 to keep existing projects running successfully and to start new ones. We have put together a brief overview of the topics that occupied us particularly in January and February.

The next milestone: the first goods in the new Borgholzhausen building
<\/strong>
Half a year ago, the first stands of our new building in Borgholzhausen were set up in an ideal location directly on the A33 with a direct connection to the motorway intersections for the A1 and A30. At the end of February the time had come and we were allowed to store the first goods from our customers in Unit 1. In March, more users (from the areas of e-commerce and pet supplies) will move into our modern and sustainable facility. The camera is running: Broadcasting of the WDR documentation with insights into our Bielefeld location<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

How do logistics fulfillment processes work for an online shop? We opened our doors in September for the WDR documentary \u201cPorno, Escort, Sextoys\u201d<\/a>. For an exciting day of shooting, the filmmakers got an insight into the logistics behind the online shop of our customer Eis.de<\/a>. The result is now available. In the ARD media library<\/a> and on YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ongoing pandemic is bringing pharmaceutical logistics into focus. Logistics for pharmaceutical and healthcare products are currently more in demand than ever \u2013 from OTC products to consumer health articles to prescription drugs. Show commitment: blood is transported<\/strong><\/p>\n

In February, we at B + S joined the \u201cBlood transported\u201d logistics initiative<\/a>. The merger of logistics companies supports the fight against blood cancer and other diseases of the hematopoietic system through actions. From typing campaigns to blood donation campaigns in the company to joint benefit events, the participating companies make their contribution to keeping the blood system running. Because blood and logistics have one thing in common: They transport vital things – for the organism and society. More information can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDie Wirtschaftsmacher\u201d initiative: B + S in two themed issues<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u201cDie Wirtschaftsmacher\u201d<\/a> initiative was also active: two themed issues were published in the last few months. We at B + S have also made our contribution to this. In the booklet \u201cNo online shopping without logistics\u201d we gave an insight into our logistics service in the area of e-commerce fulfillment for our customer Grillstar. We highlighted the special features of disinfectant logistics in the special issue \u201cLogistics in the Corona Pandemic\u201d. Here<\/a> you can download both issues.<\/p>\n

Listening to the market: studies and research results<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In January and February we also devoted ourselves to a number of studies that shed light on interesting questions from the areas of logistics and fulfillment. For example, the question of how Covid-19 affects our return behavior. Exciting insight that we at B + S can confirm: e-commerce is growing disproportionately during the pandemic. And not just at Christmas, for which the bevh found a 24 percent increase in sales. At the same time, the relative return rate is falling – from 17.8 to 15.9 percent. Read here<\/a> why this is the case. The Internet World Report for selling on Amazon also comes from the area of \u200b\u200bonline trading. We have put together<\/a> for you why the American shipping giant is increasingly becoming a research platform and which tips need to be observed in order to sell there successfully. What has been ordered must also reach the end customer: delivery is an essential part of e-commerce. Exciting here? A study by the Federal Environment Agency<\/a> has found that, from an ecological point of view, consolidated deliveries often do better than individual procurement in the city. Because compared to a five-kilometer drive, an average of only 200 to 400 grams of CO2 is generated per delivery instead of 1,100 grams. E-commerce and sustainability do not necessarily have to conflict with each other. And neither do logistics areas and processes. The Projekt Logist.Plus<\/a>, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, among others, is currently researching how the interests of residents and companies can be taken into account and how these can be linked with sustainability goals through optimization.
